You’re in Mexico…time to pick a beach and go for a long walk with your partner or your pet or both…so let’s pick a beach.  There are hundreds of beautiful beach escapes at Riviera Nayarit, too many for a single post so here we will cover 3 and stay tuned for more on this series of Beautiful Beach Escapes Riviera Nayarit.

Bucerias by Shawn AllenRight in Bucerias we have one of the loveliest beaches on the bay.   You can walk south along the glorious sand all the way to the resorts in Nuevo Vallarta or north all the way to La Cruz.   Along the way stop at one of the beachside restaurants in Bucerias and order yourself a cold margarita and some Mexican snacks.   Take your time to enjoy while you listen to the surf and watch the other beachgoers walk by.   Keep a sharp eye out on the surf as you might see a dolphin breaking the surface!   Try the walk just before sunset and watch while the sun sets over the end of the bay and enjoy one of the most glorious sights on offer here in beautiful Riviera Nayarit!

Our second beautiful beach escape requires a car…let’s drive up to San Pancho and check out the beach there. San Pancho  Deeper sand, broader waves…be careful if you dive into the water…be sure to check the signs delineating the status of the undertow.  Again you can walk south for half an hour and then head back north for another half an hour.   End your walk back in the central area where you’ll find great restaurants waiting to serve you drinks and snacks or a full dinner if you’ve built up an appetite.

Destiladeras BeachFor a beautiful afternoon relaxing on the beach, check out Playa Destiladeras.  Rated among the top 100 most beautiful beaches in the world, this long white sand beach offers up plenty of space for boogie boarding or surfing or just running in the waves.   Watch the swells…they can rise up to 3 meters or more.    The surf is great for wading…but again watch the undertows…. the beach has a nice gentle slope so you can take your kids wading. Restaurants are open on the weekend selling fish and snacks.

Thats all for now, stay tuned to find out more about our favorite beach escapes at Riviera Nayarit.
